What is Reel Stories?

Reel Stories was created to screen documentaries and films with themes around social change in an intimate setting at City of Asylum’s Alphabet City. All screenings are free public screenings that focus on issues important to our community, such as: youth, gender identity, adoption, international struggles and accomplishments, and hate crimes against our community.

All screenings are free and take place at City of Asylum @ Alphabet City (40 W North Avenue)

Most Recent Event: Small Talk (Ri Chang Dui Hua)

Join us at City of Asylum on Wednesday, November 20th for a screening of Small Talk (Ri Chang Dui Hua). In a series of long shots the two women discuss loneliness, trust and abuse, yet most of these discussions end in painful silence. Shifting focus in order to plumb the depths of their relationship, Hui-chen brings viewers along on her desperate attempts to understand her mother.
