What is Reel Stories?

Reel Stories was created to screen documentaries and films with themes around social change in an intimate setting at City of Asylum’s Alphabet City. All screenings are free public screenings that focus on issues important to our community, such as: youth, gender identity, adoption, international struggles and accomplishments, and hate crimes against our community.

All screenings are free and take place at City of Asylum @ Alphabet City (40 W North Avenue)

Reel Stories programming has been postponed until June. Please check for details on our next screenings.

Upcoming (Tentative) Event: KANARIE

Join us at City of Asylum on Thursday, June 18th for a screening of KANARIE, hosted by ReelQ. KANARIE (Afrikaans for ‘Canary’) is a coming-of-age musical war drama, about a young boy who discovers how through hardship, camaraderie, first love, and the liberating freedom of music, the true self can be discovered.
