About the Film

Papua New Guinea is one of the world’s most dangerous place to be a woman, with 70% reporting that they experienced family and sexual violence before the age of 15. Yet there is one transgender woman who is loved by nearly every person in Papua New Guinea. The iconic recording artist and legendary entertainer Moses Moshanty Tau is a national hero and a beacon to the transgender community of the entire South Pacific. Filmed over a weekend in October of 2017 and including her last live performances, I’m Moshanty. Do You Love Me? is an introduction and a musical tribute to the career of the transgender activist with a mother’s heart, teeth of gold and a voice like a coronet.
