Sex, Scandal & Murder @ Reel Q

James Franco & Christian Slater Star

James Franco and Christian Slater lead an impressive cast in a film that chronicles one of the biggest scandals in the adult entertainment industry.

First held in 1985, Reel Q is the annual festival of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) cinema presented by the Pittsburgh Lesbian & Gay Film Society. The 2016 festival will take place October 6 to 15 at the Harris Theater, 809 Liberty Avenue in the vibrant Pittsburgh Cultural District. The schedule is available online at the official Reel Q web site (www.reelq.org) and on PGHevents: The Pittsburgh Events Web Site (www.pghevents.net). Trailers are also available on demand for local Comcast Xfinity digital television subscribers.

“King Cobra” is the true story of porn star Sean Paul Lockhart’s rise to fame. Taking the screen name Brent Corrigan, the underage aspiring filmmaker began to illegally appear in various gay porn videos. But the man who made him a sensation, Bryan Kocis, was an adept manipulator who treated Sean as little more than property. Things go bad to tragic when a violent confrontation with a pair of male prostitutes leads to Kocis’ violent death — and a series of revelations that shock a normally shock-proof industry.

Former teen sensation Garrett Clayton (TV’s “The Fosters”) delivers a convincing and sympathetic performance as Lockhart. Also in the cast is Molly Ringwald, Alicia Silverstone and Keegan Allen.

The evening wraps up with a fun party in the Pierce Studio, accessed through the theater’s lower level. Admission is $15 for the entire night.
